New BlackRock fund BIGZ is expected to be like BSTZ and BMEZ as a monthly pay and growth oriented fund. It is selling at about $20.42 as I write.
BlackRock Innovation and Growth Trust
Investment Strategy
Among other things, common criteria for innovative companies across industries may include developing new products, selling in new markets or channels, applying a new or superior technology to legacy industries, refining existing processes for efficiency, changing or pivoting business model, or creating tools that empower new breakthroughs.
I suggest you buy it and when it starts to pay dividends — which it hasn’t yet because it was just launched — you re-invest them, assuming you have a long enough time line. Buying it now requires you to trust BlackRock but its other similar funds suggest it will a good one. I plan to just hold it and capture the dividends. The funds price and and NAV along with its dividend should start to gather momentum and grow. Yield-on-cost will do the same. As always, good investing!
April 15th:
The economy is improving rapidly on most fronts. Particularly, unemployment is decreasing, output and exports are increasing, consumer sales are increasing, and inflation remains relatively contained. New Zacks #1 additions include: CSTR, MYRG, MDC, LMAT, and NTR. For a wild and risky ride you can always gamble with COIN, but not me. For those worrying about rising interest rates, try any of: PHD, BSL, BGT, or EVV for monthly payers. Other monthly pay funds you might want to consider because of their discounts (CEFs only) or growth (ETFs) are: SPE, QYLD, RYLD, KBWY, JRS, PGZ, BMEZ, PPT, and ETG. My personal favorite for growth is actually the CEF BMEZ. You could also buy BSTZ and BIGZ for the same reason. Of course, I also hold BME and BST because I am both risk-averse and greedy at the same time. Good Investing!
Oops, forgot to add: If you are holding THQ, now is the time to trade it for THW so as to pick up about 20% more shares.
April 18th:
BIGZ is just getting started and hasn’t gotten to the point of declaring a dividend yet. It’s market price is racing ahead of its NAV so until the price falls or the NAV starts to increase I would hesitate to buy it right now. Instead, wait for the market price to fall or the NAV to start increasing.
